FHA Mortgage Loans in Texas

The FHA Lending climate is getting ready to change in Texas and across the nation. With the changes getting ready to come through April 1st mortgage brokers may be taken out of the FHA lending game. What does this mean to the consumer? You guessed it, less choice and higher fees. As a general rule of thumb brokers tend to give better loans for the mid range credit profile which is where most FHA mortgage clients fall, especially in Texas where consumers seem to lag behind in regards to credit profiles. The result is that Texas mortgage borrowers may be hit a bit harder than other areas of the nation due to Texans having credit profiles that lag behind the national average. Moral of the story, if you’re looking for an FHA mortgage in Texas whether it be a purchase or refinance get locked in before April 1st chances are the new federal mandates will have a negative impact on pricing and fees across the board.
